WUI access through OVPN over cellular not working?

I have an interesting issue. If I connect to my network over ipfire’s road warrior OVPN over a WiFi connection on my phone, I can access the wui just fine.

When I do the same thing on the same phone with the same browser over a cellular connection, the wui only partly loads and then refuses to load further, leaving me on a white page or a page with only some of the menu showing but not working and the browser sits with a progress bar that doesn’t budge like the server being dog slow or unresponsive.

I’m on T-Mobile, if that makes a difference. Perhaps T-Mobile is messing with OVPN connections?

you have to play with MTU size - with my PPPoE 1424 works perfect

Which T-Mobile, US or Germany? I tested it with T-Mobile Germany, wui works flawlessly over cellular (Android 15, Chrome browser, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.openvpn.openvpn).

I didn’t do the full process to find the optimal MTU but just used yours and the WUI seems to be working now through cellular. And FYI, this was US T-Mobile.
