Hi,
My printer connects via WPA2 to the access-point on my IPFire firewall, it doesn’t know WPA3. The encryption is set on WPA2+WPA3. (IPFire->Wireless Access Point → Encryption. That used to work well.
It seems that after the last update (Core-update 188) I have to set the encryption to WPA2-only for my printer to connect.
Did someone else experienced this as well?
NOTE: There are some (usually vendor) enforced WPA3 limitations that don’t apply in WPA2 - ensure your passphrase is actually suitable for either standard on that device.
I have a firewall now with a wireless card built in to use for my testing purposes.
Unfortunately it has already been updated to have CU190 running in it and there have been updates to the wlanap.cgi code in CU190, although the aim is to try and get these backported into CU189 Testing.
With those changes I was able to make a connection with my WPA2 laptop to the blue wireless interface with it set to WPA2+WPA3.
So at least I can tell you that it works with CU190 and will hopefully do so also with CU189 before too long.
Hi Adolf,
Thanks for your reply.
I will wait for CU190 and let you know.
Thanks again…
Regards,
Edwin.
Try to set IPFire to “WPA2” only, then connect your WPA2-devices. After that, switch to “WPA3” only and connect your WPA3-devices.
Then switch to “WPA2+WPA3” (leave “Management Frame Protection (802.11w)” disabled or optional) and all your devices should connect just right.
This works for me since CU174 (when I started using IPFire). =)
