I have a fiber optic line (from KPN a Dutch operator) which uses the PPPoE protocol. Attached to this line is a KPN router that handles Vlan 4,5, and 6. For telephony, IpTV, and Internet.
Normally i would connect the RED interface to this KPN router on one of the LAN ports using DHCP. But is it possible to connect the RED interface from Ipfire directly to the NTU (fiber/network termination unit) ? Using PPPoE username/password ?? This NTU has one RJ-45
As i read my own post, it looks like telephony and IpTV will not work, just Internet
with the interface type VDSL which is PPPoE via VLAN.
You would also need to use the igmpproxy addon as mentioned at the end of that documentation page.
Although a lot of that doc is mentioning Telekom Entertain or T-Home, it can be used anywhere where the internet and iptv are coming in via vlan ID’s.
Other forum users have used igmpproxy for iptv with other providers so hopefully they can help you more with details as I only use internet with my ISP.
