I have experienced in the past that the usual router hardware did not have enough power to achieve the full throughput, so I needed a little more power, for my 1000Mbit internet connection. (encrypted throughput)
My network rack needs about 100 watts/24h/7weeks/365days, where I have a 24-way switch, a NAS, the Ipfire, two USB drives and various fans connected. This has always been the case and is taken into account.
My recent experiences have shown otherwise… that’s why I deactivated it. But I’m still on the trail of something else. I realized that since some update of Ipfire my hardware cabling and the configured VLANs in the switches lead to massive problems at some point, which then manifested themselves in these kernel errors due to massive CPU load and other inexplicable unbound ssl handshake errors.
But since I changed the cabling it seems to work, otherwise unbound is just broken.
Since I had already implemented an orange network with VLAN in Ipfire and also configured the WAN connection in the switches using VLAN and apparently there have been massive problems here since an update, my WLAN APs remain in green for the time being.
It would be nice to be able to assign the AP to the WLAN card using VLAN, but unfortunately this is not possible.
