Hi!

I’ve set up IPFire and I’m experiencing a somewhat strange behavior regarding users and passwords.

In terminal mode I can login to user “root” with no problem.

In terminal mode I can’t login to user “admin”.

Checking the /etc/passwd file with user root I found out that there is no user “admin” at all.

When connecting to the IPFire host using the web interfac from another computer I can login with user “admin” and the web interface shows.

Can you please explain to me what this is all about? Thanks in advance!

Thanks. Indeed I’ve overssen the small remark regarding “admin” use in the CLI.

Another question: how do I change the admin password after installation?

Go to the console, run setup and choose the ‘admin’ password option.
