HI the community.
I am looking to had a USB wifi dongle to my IpFireBox to create a Blue Zone.
Of course, I 've read the wiki.ipfire.org - Network Adapter Hardware Compatibility List section, but for a non network specialist, it is very difficulut to “translate” the name of the Chips listed in this page , to a real Wifi Card product you can find on the market.
Can someone give me some example of Usb Wifi dongle that work and we can buy on Amazon or others place, working at 5Ghz
Thank you for your answer. This is what I want to do, but I am looking for a way to find “the commercial name” of a USB WiFi card I can buy from Amazon or another source based on the chipset name listed in the compatibility list.
Regards
I would agree with Shaun - look for a wired AP (wired Access Point).
Wired APs are not listed on the ipfire websites but there are lots of good choices out there. I used an Apple Airport many years ago. And a few years ago I tried a Ubiquity Unifi device. Lots of choices!
If you are looking for a USB Wi-Fi dongle then look here:
You can use the names in the left column to search for the products.
In my opinion - I would not use an USB Wi-Fi dongle. If you are using the Wi-Fi dongle just for fun or testing these should fine.
A Wi-Fi dongle is meant for one device access one wi-fi. Not really meant for multiple users.
