Update from an old 2.27 Core Update 168

Getting Started with IPFire Updates Trouble

Hallo all,
I have to update an old IPFire 2.27 (x86_64) - Core Update 168 that has been neglected for a long time.
It’s a simple system, no complex rules, just some OVPN roadwarrior clients, dyndns configuration and an ipsec connection (that can be sacrificed).
Since it’s a lot of updates I plan to take a backup, screenshot every configuration page and proceed with a fresh install, it seems to me the safer way, so, (while I search in the community) I’m just here to ask if there are other suggestions about this or there are well known problems in the upgrade path.

I would suggest that if you’re going to screenshot every config page, then don’t bother restoring the backup. Just configure it from scratch. It’s possible restoring the back up could bring in some forgotten settings that might complicate things.
