Hello. I would like to know if I can and how to update my ipfire that I have in production without losing all the configuration. And how long does it take, so as not to leave users without service, thanks!
When IPFire carries out a core update it first makes a backup, then does the update and then restores the backup so after the core update the configuration is the same as before the core update.
Typically when I carry out a core update it is no more than 10 or 15 mins including the time for doing a reboot which is usually noted to be required. I have never actually timed a core update so the above estimate is probably a bit longer than it actually takes.

Thanks! And how do I update the core?
Goto the IPFire menu item and select the Pakfire item.
Then press refresh list and after it has finished, if there is an update available it will be listed in the section on the right.
