Unbound does not start

On my IPFire (Core Update 155) I can’t get unbound started.
started. This makes DNS resolutions more than sluggish.
Error message:

[root@ipfire ~]# /etc/init.d/unbound restart
Stopping Unbound DNS Proxy… Not running. [ WARN ]
Starting Unbound DNS Proxy… [ OK ]
[1620507354] unbound-control[12905:0] error: connect: Connection refused for 127.0.0.1 port 8953

What is it looking for on port 8953?
In /etc/unbound/unbound.conf the port is not listed at all.
there is no additional file in /etc/unbound/local.d/.

No idea where else I can look for the error?

I am not a unbound expert. But maybe this will help…

To get more info from the messages log:

grep unbound /var/log/messages

I had not found that. I probably used the wrong search terms.

unbound is running again after I did

unbound-anchor
/etc/init.d/unbound start
