Hello,
I have been using IPFire for a few years. The hardware is on a UPS. A few days after updating to core 187 the unit hard shutdown. I was on holiday and there was no local user interaction I can tell from the logs. I know the exact time shutdown occurred I’m trying to determine if this is a result of the update or possibly hardware issue? Any suggestions to diagnose would be appreciated.
Thank you
Test the UPS by unplugging it. That’s not as taxing as an actual power surge, but at least it might give you a hint.
The UPS is functioning in spec. There are several other devices connected that didn’t show power loss.
Check the power supply going to the IPFire box? I use a multimeter and move the cable around while measuring voltage to see if there’s an intermittent wiring issue.
Regarding the logs at Logs->System Logs->
IPFire shows “rebooting” during a reboot
Kernel shows more information, but you have to search for the time that the shutdown occurred because it’s a copious log.
Collectd also has boot information.
There might be other locations I’m unaware of, but since you know the exact time the shutdown occurred that will narrow down the search.
