Static route over vpn

HI,
i hope someone can help.
I’ve 2 Ipfire connected over opnvpn on one side there is an special TI Gateway with the ip 192.168.100.237 now i would like to get this gateway from the second side. On the second side I insert statis routing 188.144.0.0/15 Gateway 192.168.100.237. Ping to 192.168.100.237 works but tracert to 188.144.7.178 will be ignored and not routet over vpn. What i’m doing wrong??

I change the static route gateway 192.168.100.237 to ip of the vpn 10… gateway and now it works.
But i have no idea why?

Since I am not quite sure I have understood you correctly, would you mind posting screenshots of both IPFire machines’ routing tables here?
