Samba is stopped
/usr/sbin/smbd is not running but /var/run/smbd.pid exists

/etc/init.d/samba start

/etc/init.d/samba status
nmbd is running with Process ID(s) 3425 3424.
/usr/sbin/smbd is not running but /var/run/smbd.pid exists.
winbindd is running with Process ID(s) 3469 3467 3440 3439.

Try to restart samba and check /var/log/messages maybee there is in information why smbd is terminated or crashed.

/etc/init.d/samba restart

Appreciate. The error is generated by the option guest account = samba
I had deleted the user samba. I created the samba user again. It works.
