Dear experts,
I thought about buying a commercial “stealth” VPN account like cyberghost VPN.
So i was wondering if it would be possible to let IPFire connect to the Cyberghost servers and route all outgoing traffic (coming from the green interface) there?
Additional, it would be absolute great to have the possibility to enable/disable this from the IPFire GUI.
What do you think about this? Is this busslhit because it slows down the internet traffic very much? Or is it easy and fast? Did anybode try this before?
AFAIK it’s not possible to use a VPN as a fully routed RED adapter. It’s possible in pfSense, however, at least that’s what I’ve read (haven’t actually tried myself).
Easy definetively no, unless the device/software you buy for your internet connection has a customer-ready procedure to configure the commercial VPN as only red interface for routing internal traffic. But this means that could be a commercial relationship between VPN provider and device/software company.
Slows internet… who knows? Speeds depends on the device computational power and efficiency, VPN/cypher algorithms and… the commercial VPN actual bandwith that can provide. It’s not an educated guess, is gambling on 5 different levels and winning requires boolean AND to connect any gamble.
About “bull factor”… Well… Are VPNs providers bull or not?
I think it’s a queston for other kind of communities.
