Release 171 bug fixes, AX88179 issue

Hello,
when I upgraded to 170, I lost my green interface, ASIX Electronics Corp. AX88179 Gigabit Ethernet, and had to revert to 169.
Now I wonder if that issue was fixed with 171, and it is safe to move on.
Thanks for your comments,
-Gian

Others with that USB nic reported with core 171 beta, that the problem has been fixed.

I’m puzzled that others are reporting success with ax88179 on Core 171. It would only work for me about 10-20 hrs at a time on my red interface. Installing Core 169 resolved my stability issues. Am I the only one w/ issues on 171?

Wow, spoke too soon. ax88179 dropped connection on Core 169 just minutes ago.
So this is likely a H/W issue. Will try some old USB 2.0 dongles on Core 171.

FWIW the ax88179 refused to work reliably in either USB 3.0 or 2.0 mode. An ax88772 USB2.0 100Mbps adapter by Cisco was solid, but obviously slow. Finally got a USB 3.0 1000Mbps RTL8153 adapter by Cable Matters that has been solid for over a week. On the latest Core 172.
