is this at all possible?

my pc has two nic and I have tried the route of using a tap network on orange to run my vm but this does not seem to work.

any ideas as I dont have a spare physical machine to run as a second server for Plex?

IPFIRE is run ON HARDWARE and linux os in a VM on ipfire via qemu.

Can libvirt using virt-manager be a better option for setting it up with network?

Looking at the wiki my understanding is that libvirt and virt-manager are for managing vm’s and helping with installing the required OS on vm’s that have already been set up so I don’t believe that you can use it for setting up the vm’s.
