Connect the printer via USB to one of your machines (eg: desktop) and then share the printer over the network.
There’s a heap of resources on the net giving instructions on how to do that.
IMO best to avoid doing stuff with your IPF firewall other than firewalling. Others will have a differing opinion.
You can also add a wifi card to your IPFire with the hostapd addon or a wifi access point on your Green network and connect your printer to it.
Hi Phil
How will this share across the network, I have wifi in the server but not using it at the moment
1 - Network → Zone Configuration
Declare your Green → Bridge With Wlan and actual ethx for your Green
Hi Phil
You make it sound so easy, will wait for weekend to start this so I don’t mess it up
Thanks
Do you have a wireless AP?
If so connect to that.
Modern networked printers often don’t need drivers, if the printer is configured to get its IP via DHCP, on your LAN.
Try a print job, from one of your devices. It will likely find the printer and ascertain the key settings required for it.
Hi Rodney
Unfortunately my wife bought me printer without network so I will be following one of the above to add USB printer to the network
