Page donation / Error 500

My colleague tried to use the donation pages.
Unfortunately, we have got an error 500.
You can check your log to find the error on the 4th of December at around 14h50.

I saw two or three of the Error 500 pages when I donated. My Error 500 was on November 25, 2023 at 7:06 PM.

It magically disappeared within 10-15 minutes and then I was able to donate.

I don’t have any log files for this any more, because we don’t keep them that long :frowning:

If this happens again, please let me know that I can have a look and make the donation experience as easy as possible for everyone.

I got my organization to agree to a recurring donation, but I am getting the Error 500 page after I fill the first page out and click the “Donate Now” bar. I will wait some time and try again.

edit: BTW, this is the page before you enter any financial information. It’s the initial page where you enter name, address, and donation amount. I just tried again after about 30 minutes and the same thing happened.

Did you by any chance put in a VAT number that isn’t valid? I think I have an outstanding bug where I need to show a proper error message in case something doesn’t validate.

This is also great that you got your company to donate. It’s the backbone of this project!

No, but I did put the organization name. It forces you to fill that field if you click the Organization radio button. So I filled Organization but left the VAT field blank.

edit: As a test, I just switched my donation type from Organization to Individual, and did not get the 500 timeout (I did not go any further). Shall I switch the donation type to individual? Or do you want to fix the organization option?

No if it is an organisation it should obviously work when filling in the form correctly.

I will fix it later today and if things don’t work I can set it up manually for you.

I received an invoice from Lightning Wire Labs, but it may have been from my test attempt with marking it as Individual rather than Organization. I don’t see our organization’s name anywhere in the invoice. I will hold til you reply.

@ms The transaction went through successfully. FYI, when I received the invoice and order confirmation, our organization name was nowhere on there. Just my name with our organization address. I don’t know if that is normal or not, just thought I’d mention it.

No this is not intentional. It might have set up half an account in the previous failed transaction.

Could you PM me the correct name and address and I will fix this manually.

Sorry for the trouble, I hope this is running smooth for everybody else. And it not please raise your hand so that we can fix the process and make it as smooth as possible for everyone to donate.
