Network (others) ping suddenly changed

as always, nobody has done anything…
Facts: at around 12:35 I see in the logfile, that the ping of my fibre connection to the Telekom (250Mb) changes all of a sudden from ~12ms to ~19ms and stays there. I talked to the Telekom-technican but he sees nothing suspicious (no routing changes, no excessive usage, no problems with the modem, …). So, since I have not done anything to IPFire, I suspect something on the way to the remote server switched/got rerouted.
My question - I can´t find which server-address is used by IPFire to extract the ping. Can anyone point me to an explanation how this mechanism works in IPFire, especially where I can find which server is used to extract the ping?

Thanks in advance, Al.

PS: I am on IPFire 2.27 (x86_64) - Core-Update 182 since 16d

Welcome to our community.

The Network(others) graph is sampled over the ping time to the gateway of your red network ( WAN ). The IP is shown on the Sytem->Home page.

thanks Bernhard, crap - that basically means that the Telekom switched something and there is little reason to believe that it changes back to the old faster ping anytime soon… :unamused:

You may want to power down and power up the network (gateway, firewall, etc.).

for what it is worth, my ipfire pings average 125.63 ms. But I am an ocean away!

And my gateway is near 13.67 ms. And jumps to ~60 ms once in a while
