Network configuration via console

Hi,
I’m new here. Due to the hardware requirements of pfSense 2.6.0, which was running on one of my firewalls, I switched here.
Unfortunately I made a mistake in the NIC’s config, so I can only access the console.
I’m not a Linux newbie and have had Debian on my computers for years.
But I can’t find a way to configure the NIC’s with IPFire under /etc/…
Thanks for any help. Otherwise the only option is a new installation.
hello orca

Hi @orca.

Writting “setup” you can change lan/wan/interfaces parameters.

You can see in the wiki:

Hi,
Thanks, I’ll have a look around the wiki.

I have the same issue. To answer the question more directly, I found that (apparently) the network settings are in the file /var/ipfire/ethernet/settings.

Once more. The main philosophy in IPFire is to configure via the WUI.
Some basic settings can be done using setup from the console ( I recommend to use the system console ( serial or keyboard/monitor connection ).

The IPFire config is mostly stored in /var/ipfire directory and there are programs/tools to convert to the system ( Linux ) config.
You can edit the IPFire config by your own, but then you should know how to transfer to the Linux config.

Many parts allow special modifications in .local files. These are save against Core Updates.
