Latest location db update breaks proxy

The actual location database update from 2025/01/10 breaks the squid ASNBL addon.

Here is the error message from /var/log/squid/cache.log:

squid-asnbl-helper[ID] ERRO: Response test failed for ASNDB ‘<Database /var/lib/location/database.db>’ (tuple: (‘127.0.0.1’, ‘0’)), aborting
squid-asnbl-helper[ID] ERRO: ASN database response tests failed, aborting
kid1| ERROR: helperHandleRead: unexpected read from external_acl_type #Hlpr4, 2 bytes ‘BH’
kid1| ERROR: helperHandleRead: unexpected read from external_acl_type #Hlpr4, 1 bytes ’

After that, the proxy is shutdown:

Exiting due to repeated, frequent failures

Only disabling the ASN filter is the only option that squid can start and being functional right now.

I have tested it on my vm system and confirm the same effect.

I have flagged it up with @ms

Thank you. It seem that we have had an announcement for 96.0.0.0/3 in the routing table. This caused that large parts of the internet were misattributed.

I have generated a new database and you can fetch it by running “location update”.

Thanks Adolf for the fast reply and Michael for the fast update. After the update it seems to work normal again!

Happy new year to all! Keep up the excellent work! :hugs:
