I have almost the same Problem with my blue interface but with hostapd.
Blue stops to work after a few minutes.
What i find out, with ipfire 2.27 core update 182, everything works fine, ipfire 2.29 core update 183, problems.
Raspberry pi 3 + with Netgear nano A6150 or tp-Link Archer T3U doesnt matter^.
I think, there is a change in the driver as you wrote
