Is My Heatsink Orientation Holding Back Performance

Hey everyone,
I just installed a brand-new tower air-cooler on my gaming rig (Ryzen 7 5800X) and noticed my temps are still higher than I expected under load (around 75-80 °C). Everything is clean, thermal paste applied, good airflow in case.
I’m wondering if the cooler’s orientation could be the problem. It’s mounted with the fins aligned vertically (front to back) but I’ve also seen setups where the fins go top to bottom or fan blows upward.
Has anyone experimented with different heatsink/fan orientations and seen meaningful temperature differences? What orientation worked best for you, especially in a mid-tower with restricted side-airflow?
Appreciate any advice or setup pictures!

Hi @alex98 , sorry but I need to ask… how does your question / issue relate to IPFire?

Keep in mind that this is a 105W (average) CPU.´which need a powerfull cooler. (suggested are 200W or more)

Tj Max is 90°C until this the AMD boost the clock (power boost) to maximize the performance unless you have disabled this in system bios/uefi

I use a similar system to compile IPFire and can say this processors are not easy to cool.
