Currently u-boot doesn’t support Raspberry Pi 5 so it will not boot out of the box.
Not sure if the IPFire kernel can boot without u-boot. Earlier RPi Firmwares need a special packed kernel or u-boot but maybee an uEFI image will able to boot now. (I have not tested anything because i don’t have a RPi 5.)
