IPFire dropping connection without reason

I have IPFire (Latest version 2.29 Core Update 187) installed on VirtualBox (Linux Host) and has 2 network adapters, one is NAT and has connection to the internet (Red), and one is set to host-only adapter (Green), and this only connects to a local network between the other VMs.

I have another VM (Rocky Linux), which uses IPFire as its gateway. Whenever I try to download a large file, for example using “yum upgrade”, or “wget”, it keeps dropping the connection suddenly and the download fails. When I set the VM network to NAT without using IPFire as a gateway, issue doesn’t occur.

Also, when I was updating IPFire through PakFire, I had to restart the download process a few times because it kept dropping, so it seems it is an issue with IPFire itself dropping packets or shutting down connections for some reason.

It is a clean new installation of IPFire so I don’t have any addons installed and no custom configurations, also QoS is disabled.

So What might be the issue?

Welcome to the IPFire community.

It might be your virtual machine setup.

For my testing and development work I have a virtual IPFire with 4 networks and with two virtual arch linux machines on each of the green, blue and orange zones.
I have just completed doing an update of all the arch linux systems on each of the vm machines without any problems.

I have the green, blue and orange networks set up as Internal Network and the red as Bridged Adaptor and that works fine for me.

I have only used the above setup with VirtualBox and have not done anything with NAT or Host-Only adapter setup’s.
Maybe try out with Internal Network for the green network.
