The new lower power states are causing crashes on some motherboards.
We’ve been having hardware resets every 5-10 min.
I’ve had an issue on ITX cheap low power boards similar to the one in use. Please don’t force P-States, this can cause huge problems for some hardware, please make this opt in.
I don’t believe it is our job to compensate for badly designed motherboard designs/firmware that cause Intel chips to fail to work with the Intel P-States driver.
However you can manually configure the governor to use on your setup by creating the file /etc/sysconfig/cpupower
and putting a line similar to this in it GOVERNOR=ondemand
replacing “ondemand” with whatever governor will work with your hardware.
UEFI settings are probably the best low level approach to compensate a hardware fault, I´d never ask for compensation for hardware, just a simple checkbox for system control if anything at all.
