Just a follow up, this functionality is being considered for upcoming version 3 of Ipfire, according to notes on Bugzilla.
I can only hope it indeed does.

As said above, it is quite easy to do a manual work-around, but it isn’t such easy to implement a general effective ( doing exactly what is supposed, but not more ) solution.
Michael states this clearly in his answer in Bugzilla. IPFire 3 development has more possibilities for implementation. ‘Blocking connections immediately’ can be one goal in FW design, not just a modification as in IPFire 2 ( which has to check all dependencies ).
