Please have a look to https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/main/src/basic/virt.c where a different (and probably better maintained) version has different strings (and a saner way to loop).
Maybe, but then also take care that the KVM string might not have changed for VirtualBox. That is running with CU175 for me and does not cause a problem. If the KVM string for it had changed I would also expect problems.
I think this needs to be raised as a bug because I can’t help anymore on this.

Is there some way to format stuff in bugzilla?
I assumed Markdown, but it doesn’t seem to work 
I’ve looked for the same thing but did not find away to format.
I saw a note in the bugzilla forum (I think it was a forum) that bugzilla was suppose to add markdown but I cannot find why it did not happen. (I did the research > 6 months ago.)
