Drop all packets not addressed to Proxy

Drop all packets not addressed to Proxy is ticketed the Blue/Wireless doesn’t connect. What’s missing from the configuration that causes that?

Hi,

Drop all packets not addressed to Proxy is ticketed the Blue/Wireless doesn’t connect.

please be more specific. What do you mean by “doesn’t connect”? Which device cannot connect to which destinations? Are there any logs?

Thanks, and best regards,
Peter Müller

When that box is checked, the firewall works normally until the next morning when Blue doesn’t connect. And as soon as that box is unchecked access to the internet is re-enabled.

Hi,

[…] when Blue doesn’t connect.

what do you mean by that? Blue is just an interface of an IPFire machine, it cannot connect to anything.

access to the internet is re-enabled.

What difference does that make? Were the packets rejected or dropped before? Are there any firewall log entries?

Thanks, and best regards,
Peter Müller

Blue is the Wireless connection. And that means the laptop doesn’t connect via ipfire. It does connect when by-passing ipfire going straight to the Router.

And which destination does it not connect to? Does the connection simply time out or do you receive ICMP reject messages?

It is impossible to figure out what is going wrong in your case there is no detailed information available. Please provide as much details as possible in the first place next time.

That means, the laptop can not connect to the internet. There is no other information. The sequence of discovery is: enable Drop all packets not addressed to Proxy. Prior to that action connection is normal. After that action connection is normal. The next day or perhaps much later, no connection at all. The process has been tested multiple times. Always glad to test it again.

Hi,

That means, the laptop can not connect to the internet.

is it configured to use IPFire as a proxy? If not: Do single applications work after you manually configured IPFire as a (web) proxy?

Always glad to test it again.

There is no need for it, additional technical information would be satisfying.

Thanks, and best regards,

How would the MAC be configured to work with Ipfire differently than any normal configuration - the only special configuration allows the MAC to connect with Ipfires TOR.

Hi,

what MAC are you talking about here (Media Access Control or some Apple product)? Based on the description you gave so far, I can imagine both.

Unless you do not provide useful information regarding your network, the problem you experience and technical details related to it, the IPFire community is unable to help you.
Frankly, those question-and-answer games are neither efficient nor helpful.

Hello Peter,
Have tried again and when “Dropp all packets not addressed to proxy” enabled the client computer doesn’t connect to the internet. And ipfire needs to be rebooted and directly connected to un-check the feature.

What’s wrong?
