The public DNS servers shown by the IPFire webpage and arguments about other servers are known. What is the response to: The European public DNS that makes your Internet safer. [https://www.dns0.eu]
I tried these servers using Fritz alone and the response was very smooth. When I connected IPFire (after Fritz, TLS enabled, 53/853 enabled) IPFire didn’t work.
Is there a reason for that?
A solution
or a weekend of fiddling
They have two sets of DNS Servers (Zero and Kids) that filter the DNS responses. The DNS server info from the Home page looks to not be filtered, although it is not explicitly mentioned as such.
The privacy policy only mentions about logging responses. There is nothin in that about filtering.
I tried the presumably unfiltered version with my DNS over TLS setup and the connection worked straight away.
So they are clearly using DNSSEC and the DNS Server status for DNS0.eu showed OK with the help tip of DNSSEC Validating.
What ip and hostname did you use in your TLS entry?
If the server status is not showing OK, what help message do you get if you hold the mouse pointer over the status message?
