There are two possible reasons for this message.

  1. You are running IPFire on a xen host in paravirt mode. In this case you cannot update the IPFire installation because the Kernel not support this anymore.

  2. You run not on a xen PV host and have restored an old backup of the grub.conf or an update was not finished. In this case you can remove
    /boot/grub/grub.conf
    and run “pakfire update” again
