Core 197: No WLAN Client on RED

Gentlemen,

I took an rpi 4 B and followed the instructions

to connect ipfire 197 with rpi’s onboard wlan to an hotspot offered by a mobile phone with WPA2 PSK, 5 Ghz, DHCP, channel 48.

No connection. Tested auto-channel on phone. No connection. Ensured password. No connection.

Tested another mobile phone. No connection.

Where do I find possibilities to input country-codes, channel, error messages …?

Installed hostapd on blue just for testing. No connection.

Just to be sure about the hardware I installed ubuntu 25.04 and got easily connected. Rebooted. Got automatcally reconnected.

In another post you asked if I had any ideas about this topic.

The answer is no. I have never used a mobile phone as a hotspot to connect to anything, and definitely not to act as the wireless client to allow connection on red.

Everythi9ng that I have worked with has always has a physical Ethernet rj45 plug connection for red. Sorry.

try switching your wifi hotspot to 2.4Ghz
