Core 191 Testing

Upgrade proceeded smoothly from WUI. I’m running RED & GREEN, with few addons.

DNS tab in WUI was not working, before & after upgrade. Could be an issue with my installation. Configuration in /var/ipfire/dns/settings & /var/ipfire/dns/servers looks correct.

Did a Core 190 >> 191 (test) update 4 days ago without any issues.

(The Core 190 was a clean installation from a 190 iso using back-ups from my prevoius Core 189 installation).

Now one day 4 - and running smoothly.

Best regards

Major issue with 189 to 191 upgrade here.

I didn’t realize 191 was already released and just updated the 189 from the webui expecting it to be smooth sailing.

But it looks like it directly updated to 191 without saying anything and now the router is stuck in a half functional state.

It seems to do internet routing, but I can access the webui or the ssh, and when I look at the boot output it seems to be stuck at “starting dhcpd on red interface” and doesn’t continue from there.

Edit: after another reboot and 15 minutes waiting it finally recovered by itself. No idea what went wrong.

I have updated two systems from 190 to 191 without issue. Another more mission-critical system I’m waiting for the weekend before trying. I don’t expect issues, but I like to allow myself time for recovery before updating this system, just in case.

Had been running a test version 191 with no problems, now on stable release.
One thing that worries me is the CPU frequency varies wildly between versions and reboots.
I have cpufrequtils installed, as found no CPU freq reduction otherwise with most of my boxes.
Attached graph of Intel i5 2500S CPU production box where R scheduled reboot.

Linux kernel 6.13 looks like one that might help (or next LTS afterwards):
