Beginners/Idiots guide to Wireguard setup please?

I really do not know what to put into any of these fields, I want to use Windscribe for Wireguard, when I go onto Windscribe’s website and ask its Gary AI help support, every time it wants to fight with me saying you do not need to fill any of these fields out; Endpoint and ClientPool but IPfire demands I fill them out. But it won’t give me anything as it says we autopopulate these when you upload the config file. Something you do not allow us to do

Why can you not just offer the ability to upload the wireguard config file to setup Wireguard automatically for us please or could you possibly provide some instructions on how to use Windscribes wireguard with IPfire please as I just cannot figure what needs to go into where to set this up.

Hello Anthony,

welcome to IPFire.

I suppose it would be better to ask a very specific question. Otherwise I can only refer to the documentation on the wiki.

If you want to connect to a VPN provider, there is the option to import a connection.

The VPN providers give you conf files. Which like I say, i wish IPfire just let you upload and allow it to autopopulate all of its settings for you as opposed to needing to manually set everything up as this is very complicated to setup.

But what do you put in Endpoint, Client Pool and port? As in what exactly do I put in, as the Wiki makes no sense whatsoever on the matter. I even asked Grok and it came along with advice that was very specific and I put in what I thought was correct and then clicked save and got an error in IPfire for both. The port option won’t let me put in 443 into IPfire and Windscribe wont let me create a VPN setup with 51820.

It really is far too complicated to setup as it is not clear at all what needs to go into any of these settings. It really would be so much easier if IPfire just let you upload the Wireguard conf file and autopopulate everything for you as even the Wireguard application for windows lets you do this

As I said, it is possible to import it.

Managing a firewall is not an easy job. You will have to read a lot to understand fundamental concepts in order to configure a secure network and system. There is no “quick & dirty” option that you can get done with the help of a little AI if you want security.
