I want to add a new network.
I have installed a WLAN interface and want to add this in as a blue Lan
I don’t see any where to add this in
I have Red and Green working OK but want to add Blue
Hi Berni,
Run ‘setup’ from the command line on the console or via ssh and select ‘Networking’ to change the network configuration type to ‘GREEN + RED + BLUE’ and assign a NIC and IP address for the BLUE network.
Regards,
Stephen
Hi Stephen
Will give that a try a bit later
Thanks for the feedback
Hi again
I setup as required anly to find I need to set it on different lan subnet, also each access needs setting for access
As I wanted to use it to control my home automation this is not good. So I removed the card and continue using green port through a wireless access point
Thanks again for the help but will not work for my issue
Hello,
This is mainly the interest that I found in the Blue network
Separate the Wifi Home Automation Objects from the Computers network
The operations in IPFire remain quite trivial:
- Declare the Blue interface without the Console by “Setup”: www.ipfire.org - Step 5: Network Setup
- Add the DHCP for the blue in the DHCP page: www.ipfire.org - DHCP Server
For my part, I declared a fixed DHCP for each connected Object - Declare the MAC addresses of the wifi objects in the blue page www.ipfire.org - Blue Access
Or simply Disable MAC Address filtering as indicated on the page.
Then it remains to add the Firewall rules to refine to authorize/restrict the addresses and ports www.ipfire.org - Firewall Documentation
As for the green
Good configuration
Blue would have to be set up to access on green by firewall rules. But different ip addresses are not an issue on this system as the output of the green, blue, and orange firewalls are routed to the input of the red firewall and no NAT is needed to access across these networks as this is a logical bridge.
To avoid having to reconfigure your connected objects
- Create the Blue network with the address of the current Green and connect your access point to it
- All that remains is to connect the other devices to the new Green
