In my “day career” I work on and with IBM type Mainframes as a contractor. I have been a developer of products with IBM and other Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). And I’ve been dabbling with Linux systems since about 2000. I started using Coyote Linux to protect my LAN since my NT 4.0 server, which had a firewall, just was not up to the task. So I’ve built firewall/gateway systems for protecting our LAN for years now. And I generally get a subscription for the software, or for a community, I make donations.
I program in several languages, just not “c” or OO languages (yet). Mostly on IBM systems. I have done development on an ASCII based system, and for WANG (if you are old enough to remember that system). Generally I use assembly language, but I also do FORTRAN, RPG (report program generator), COBOL, REXX, and some specialty languages.
