Experience with SIP Starlink
During our vacation, we had an internet connection via Starlink at the guesthouse where we were staying.
The connection itself worked without any problems (direct).
But for my home network, where I use IPFIRE and therefore need to access the internal network from time to time, I use OVPN and WireGuard.
Neither of these connections worked for me via Starlink
I am writing this more as information (interesting fact).
It is unlikely that I will encounter this type of problem regularly. Rather, it is information for others.

I believe Starlink uses CG-NAT, which means you can’t initiate inbound VPN connections to a Starlink endpoint.
So if one side of the VPN is behind Starlink, the tunnel has to be initiated from that side, not towards it. If IPFire is at the guesthouse, it would need to initiate the OVPN/WireGuard connection to your home network, rather than the other way around.
As you say, not something most people will hit often, but useful information for others.
Hmm, if I understood @otadr right, he wanted to connect to home via StarLink - with the IPFire connected to the ‘normal’ Internet but his device connected to starlink…?
Yes, I was connected with my laptop and phone as a client at a guesthouse where the internet is provided via Starlink.
And I connected to IPfire at home, where there is an optical connection and IPv4.
My experiences in corproate VPN environments, many different vendors, with any satellite access in the past using VPN was just not good, would not work constantly dropping, A lot more propagation delay than terrestrial communications so always thought that was it. Even though Starlink is much lower orbit then previous is still a lot of delay, may through off the crypto when trying to setup the connections ? not sure if the problem but I have never had good luck getting VPN before to work through satellite connections ?
