Recommendations for home-office hardware

I ran an old Zotac Zbox with 8GB RAM for many years. Very low power. Worked well using many services and a ton of caching. Had dual gigabit LAN, though I don’t remember the exact model. Picked up four of them used at $40 each then $20 each for RAM. Used for firewalls, netboot clients and others. Only replaced because I needed more ports to run all four zones when I changed up my network scheme. Could have used USB to LAN but that just doesn’t sit right for me New box I built myself ran about $150. AM1 quad core with 16GB ram and 500GB SSD. Also low power and performing exceptionally.

I can really recommend the IPFire Mini Appliance together with a Draytek Vigor165/167 Modem (if VDSL is needed).
This runs rocksolid and has enough power for home or small office branches.

For a couple of years now I have been using an HP Elite 8300 SFF which I bought used for $80 and added a TP-Link TG-3468 gigabit Ethernet card bought new for $14. I am very happy with it. I get about 330 Mbps out of my ISP router and 320 Mbps after going thru this computer running IPFire.
