I generated a new Protonvpn configuration file and imported without error. 
I have noticed a discrepancy in the location showing between IPFire and Protonvpn.

The flag is showing the location of the IP address you are connecting to. That does not automatically have to be the same IP address you are breaking out into the Internet as.
