Have you never thought about integrating Pi-hole into IPFire?
At present I am running IPFire on Raspberry Pi 2b and Pi-hole on Raspberry Pi 1b, but it could be useful to have both on the same hardware… and really I would like to have this add-on on IPFire.

In this interim , I use the following script in the crontab with standard blocklists and a white list of domains to whitelist:
%nightly,random * 0-6 /bin/bash /root/dns_blocklist.sh -w /root/dns_whitelist.txt

No. Absolutely not. It is horrible software. Broken. Simply don’t use it.
