Hello,

I can’t login to my IPFire WUI version 2.29 193 installed on Raspberry Pi 4 1.4 having a “Forbidden You don’t have permission to access this resource.” when I try to connect, no matter the web browser or the computer.

The firewall is factory reset.

It is possible to access the interface when I restart the firewall but after an hour or so it is blocked.

When I enter the CLI, nothing shows up except an underscore in the middle of the screen.

During version 191, I was able to access the firewall through CLI and execute commands when I had access to the WUI. When the 403 Forbidden appeared, I had a INIT: cannot execute “/sbin/agetty” that loop through the command line.

Sounds to me like an hardware issue. You shouldn’t get 403 at any time. Change your media (whatever u use).and check your power supply.

Since changing hardware I have the same issue. It is blocking GREEN as well as BLUE from accessing the WUI.

- Could this have anything to do with the DNS firewall??
  - The HW change gave more RAM (4\>16 GB)
  - Activated the DNS FW with ads/malware/phishing/porn
  - As far as I can see, the proxy has been disabled

Appreciate any input

Did you only change the RAM, change other components, or change the entire appliance ?

I changed the appliance.

In this case, the recovery method is:

1 - Make a complete backup (system and add-ons) and download it.
2 - Install the new appliance using the ISO (or IMG) and reassign the same IP addresses (Green, Blue, Orange).
3 - Install the add-ons.
4 - Restore the saved backups.
Reboot

EDIT : And Reboot your Clients …

Did you follow these steps?

I made one error, and loaded the backup before the add-on’s. All else was done as you describe.

I will repeat the install tomorrow following your steps. Then will report back.

Thx

Restore all the backups again after installing the add-ons; that should work without having to reinstall everything again.

I followed your last advice, and restored all the backups, then restarted.

On the client side I cleared all browser caches/history, and restarted the clients.

PROBLEM STILL THERE.

re-assign all NICs on your IPFire via CLI using setup

connect via Keyboard and VGA to access the CLI

Try using `elinks` from the console.
