IPFire 2.29 (x86_64) - core199 Development Build: master/9745aa67

I tested the update with pakfire → No problems detected.
I tested the installation with the ISO.

https://nightly.ipfire.org/master/2025-11-23%2015:27:16%20+0000-9745aa67/x86_64/ipfire-2.29-core199-x86_64.iso

I get an error during installation (VMware® Workstation Pro 25H2)

The installation with CU198 works well.

I don’t have any vm’s with vmware, only VirtualBox.

I just tried a fresh install with CU199 Testing and it worked without any problems.

After install I checked the kernel modules and the ntfs3 module was in the directory, which presumably is why my build worked without any problems as looking at the code the loading of the vfat and ntfs3 modules is done for every build, virtual or real.
These are just common modules loaded so I can’t figure out why your install found vfat but not ntfs3.

Could you try repeating the install to see if it is a consistent issue for your setup?

I just tried again.

The ntfs3 module is indeed missing during installation.

I just saw that you used the
https://nightly.ipfire.org/master/2025-11-23%2015:27:16%20+0000-9745aa67/x86_64/

directory. Could you try with the

https://nightly.ipfire.org/master/latest/x86_64/

which was the one I used for my test. It should be the same as the one you downloaded but worth testing to be sure.

I will also try with the one you downloaded.

Can you also confirm that the b2sum value was checked and was matching.

I just checked the .b2 file values in latest and in 9745aa67 and both were the same values and I checked the b2sum for both isos and they were also the same.

It would be good if you can confirm that the b2sum value is the correct one for the iso you are using.

The b2 sum is OK.

F:\tools>b2sum "F:\Downloads\ipfire-2.29-core199-x86_64.iso"

Both files are the same.
The problem persists.

Okay. am working at getting vmware installed on my Arch Linux system but I am having to build it from the AUR as it is not provided as a core program.

Will then look at how to install IPFire on it and see if I can reproduce what is happening to you.

I eventually managed to get vmware installed and run the install for IPFire CU199 Testing.

I confirm the same result that the system says it cannot find a hard drive.

Please raise a bug report for this issue and include “CU199 Testing” in the title.

I compared the console outputs of the two versions.
Something isn’t loading for version 199.
