Finally, IPFire 2.29 - Core Update 203 has been released, migrating our DNS system to Knot Resolver: [image] IPFire 2.29 - Core Update 203 Download IPFire 2.29 - Core Update 203 here

Maybe I should have been more specific. I’ve set fixed leases and used remark to set them hostnames. Now it ignores that set hostname completely and uses hostname configured in client or if client itself don’t have set hostname it doesn’t get any hostname from DHCP server. I guess we have to use Ed…

[image] pscar13: A DHCP configuration issue was identified during testing; neither the upgrade nor the restore process (CU203) correctly migrates the dhcp.conf file. And what is being incorrectly migrated about it?

Hi all. Core Update 203 is showing much lower memory usage. Even with IPS enabled with many rules, multiple IP blocklists and DNS firewall with ads, malware and phishing lists enabled memory usage is only 2.88G. [image] And it has remained stable for almost 12 days now. [image] Great work ev…

My denon AVR is getting wrong hostname. In AVR config it’s Denon AVR-2300W. [image] DHCP lease conf it’s just denon [image] DHCP log from IPFire 21:44:27 dhcpd: execute_statement argv[4] = DOMAINNAME=localdomain 21:44:27 dhcpd: execute_statement argv[3] = HOSTNAME=0123456789 21:44:27 dhcpd: ex…

That is what I tried to describe in this post: [image] CU 203 Test : DNS does not update DHCP leases Testing I have a laptop that I use via Wi-Fi when mobile and via a wired connection at my desk. The PC’s Windows hostname is “matebook”. With CU202, the local…

[image] pscar13: But no one understood. This seems to be a very common thing with your posts. I would recommend you work on it so that people are actually able to understand or otherwise people will be talking to themselves in a thread. [image] pscar13: The REMARK field for fixed leases …

[image] Michael Tremer: It is not ignored. It says what it is doing on the tin which is storing a comment about an entry. The client sends their hostname which is what will be put into DNS. Wiki page is now confusing, if IPFire’s DNS doesn’t use remark field anymore to set hostname entry. N…

I confirm that memory usage is significantly better with C203 but I see much higher use of CPU in C203…

The implementation of sending local DHCP informations to DNS, formerly know as unbound-dhcp-leases-bridge, isn’t fully complete yet. I’ll send a report to bugzilla with recommended corrections today or tomorrow, when I have a clean solution. For the time being, the admin can do this manually, by e…

The bug was refused. Reason: REMARK is just a remark, not more. Clients MUST send their hostname I have some device in my local network, which do not send a host name. This isn’t nice, but conforms to the DHCP RFCs. For handling these devices there are several ways: Forcing the device to send…
