Freezes on restart

Can someone tell me What is could be causing this. it usually after a timed restart.

Do I need to re-install

The message “failed to convert unwritten extents to written extents…” occurs after an fsck had tested out the HDD or SSD and found some corrupted data and tried to fix it but failed.

This could be very corrupted data due to a hard power loss when in operation or it could be an indication of potential hardware failure.

What messages do you get if you go to the WUI page - Status - Media and then press the button labelled S.M.A.R.T. Information. About half way down the SMART information will be the result of the health self test for your HDD/SSD.

The table below that will show the results for all the attributes.

Hi

Thanks for the reply and suggestion.

I took the ssd drive out of IPFire box (it is dated 2011 from an old pc ) and put in a linux box where I did a surface test and found so many errors with sector failures I decided to replace with a newer M.2 NVMe ssd, It is now is a desk ornament.

so now has a fresh install of the latest OS and restored a recent backup. working well will keep checking.
