Forgot root password

Hi i forgot the root passowrd

is there any way to recover it or do i need to re-do the installation

If you have an ssh console access using public key based authentication rather than password authentication then you could run the setup command and change the root password.

If you ssh console is set up with password authentication then you are out of luck as the password will be your root password.

In that case the easiest approach would be to do a fresh install after doing a backup and downloading it from your IPFire hardware.
