Another update. It’s been almost 4 hours and dhcpcd did not break. The only difference is I turned off IPSec. I’m running a copy of IP fire in a virtual machine and I’ll see if I see the same type of problem over the next few hours.
With IPSec turned off, over 24 hours, no failures with dhcpcd. Turn IPSec on, dhcpcd fails to renew.
There is no IPSec tunnel running. For some reason even though crypto options are the same on both sides, it says no proposal chosen. I am sufficiently out of practice reading filter rules I’m not sure I can see what’s breaking red0 DHCP when IPSec is enabled.
