Hello there, for full disclosure I have not set up the ipfire to my system but my very intelligent ex has installed and connected everything, therefore I know what buttons to push or parrot memorised actions to try to navigate around the system.
I am trying to use an app that is called smart life. It needs to connect to my internet therefore I can control the Hoover using my phone over wifi.
Not knowing what I need to do to disable the protection so I can connect to the “blue network”. I know how to allow device’s Mac numbers to the system
My mobile is using iOS (current one).
I tried by passing the computer and connect the cables directly to the router but I am pretty sure it is somehow blocked too as there was no flashing light on internet.
I appreciate if you can guide me how to solve this without having to do a PHD ON firewall.
Thanks
Asli
If I can understand your need:
You want to add your Hoover to your network via the Smart Life app on your iPhone?
And you want to configure IPFire to allow access with your computer connected to the Wi-Fi router ?
If that’s correct, does your computer have access to the IPFire WUI ?
If you can’t, try connecting your computer to the “green network” instead to access the IPFire WUI.
You can then authorize your Hoover MAC address.
Hi Phil, thank you for responding. I had to look up what is WUI and I am certain it has nothing to do with wildland lol.
I am trying to use smart life app on my phone. To set up the robotic vacuum cleaner (my genie)I need it to connect my wifi. My phone connects to it. But I can’t see any devices popping up on the blue network even when I enter the wifi password.
I wanted to temporarily disable the protection on the server so I can actually try find the MAC address of the device then add it manually.
I hope this is making sense.
Thank you
If you look at the DHCP page. In the WUI
( Web User Interface )
Look near the bottom of the page and you should see the new device in the list.
Add that MAC address to the
Blue Access page.
Bonus points
From DHCP page move new IOT device to reserved address space.
If this does not make sence.
Post screen shot of your DHCP page.
Also with IOT devices I’ve had trouble in the past with my phone.
Must have bluetooth on and location.
I normally have location off. And this causes me trouble with this sort of thing.
