USB NICs are not that good anyways. This has nothin to do with ARM. There is a great write-up from Tom here:

I recently tried to save a little money on my IPFire hardware by using a thin client with 2 USB3->ethernet adapters. Things didn’t go extremely well and I wrote a blog post about it: How I Learned To Avoid USB Ethernet Adapters the Hard Way — Tom Purl's Blog I guess the short version is that they may work for you but they can be a lot of work and for me, it wasn’t worth it compared to the alternatives.
